How to get that Summer Glow
by Di Grover for Empire Artistries
We are now far too educated to lather our skin in oil and deep fry ourselves in the sun to
achieve that golden summer glow. To avoid looking like the leathery old lady from the
movie There’s Something About Mary in your future years try some of my simple makeup
tips and tricks to get that summer time glow for your next event.
Try using MAC face and body foundation for a daytime look, it is a lightweight foundation
that offers a sheer to medium buildable coverage. I love it applied sparingly so you can still
see some freckles. It is water resistant and sweat resistant so you don’t need to worry about
it sliding off your face on hot days. It also does not contain sunscreen so you won’t end up
with that white reflect in your selfies. Avoid using powder over the top of your foundation
to keep skin dewy looking. If you have quite oily skin, just use a touch of powder down the
centre of the face; forehead, nose and chin to matte out any excess shine. As the name
suggests you can use Face and Body Foundation on your body too without the fear of it
rubbing off onto your clothes. Use it down your neck and across the décolletage, depending
on what you are wearing, or apply it to your legs to add some colour, or to disguise
blotchiness and spider veins.
Mac Matte Bronze bronzing powder is fabulous for contouring your face and eyes while at
the same time providing a natural sun kissed look. Apply under the cheek bone, along the
forehead, and in the creases of the eye socket to enhance your face and eye shape. If you
wish you can also run it down the sides of your nose and under the tip to subtly contour.
I’m a massive fan of skin looking like it’s your own. Try high lighting with cream products
which give the illusion that the glow is coming from within rather than powders, which in
day light can look heavy and overdone. Mac Cream Colour Base, in Shell is amazing for a
golden luminous glow on the cheekbones, brow bone, and very minimally down the centre
of the nose. You can also add a touch along your collarbones and to the centre of your top
lip line to make these areas look more prominent.
Finish with a touch of your favourite gloss and lashings of mascara, throw on a sun dress and
look like an effortlessly natural, golden goddess with your summer glow on!
